The term is used by fans of Japanese animation to describe the activity of dressing up like one’s favorite character. The reason that so many of convention attendees were dressed up is because they were participating in a popular pastime of anime fans: “cosplay.” Cosplay is a combination of the words costume and play. Costumed individuals of all ages weaved in and out of cars, approaching the lobby’s glass doors. The parking lot of the Sheraton was completely packed. Belle was attending the convention in full costume, like so many of the other convention-goers. Also attending this convention was Belle, a friendly, happy-go-lucky woman who has an array of interesting hobbies.
